Our standard LiFiNet router is based on a technology that requires a network cable and an electrical power cable to run. The LiFiNet router provides the power supply and data to the LED lighting. Then the data will be sent using LiFi protocols to the targeted mobile.
Power over Ethernet (POE) is a technology that lets network cables carry electrical power.
A LiFi LED lighting normally requires two connections to be made when it is installed:
- A network connection, in order to be able to communicate with network equipments;
- A power connection, to deliver the electrical power the LED lighting needs to operate
However, if the LED lighting is POE-enabled, only the network connection needs to be made, as it will receive its electrical power from this cable as well.
Power Line Communication (PLC) is a communication technology that enables sending data over existing power cables.
The PLC does not need extra cabling, it re-uses the existing wiring. Using PLC with our LiFiNet router, we can distribute connectivity everywhere.
